Coordinated International Experience

Travel. Study. Experience.

Expand your academic and cultural experience by studying abroad at an acclaimed world-leading university. Participate in the Coordinated International Experience (CIE) program and spend a semester at a leading university in Asia, Australia or Europe. CIE partners with a select group of international institutions to pre-select and approve undergraduate engineering and environmental design courses for academic credit equivalency.

You’ll study full time for a semester at an internationally acclaimed partner institution – receiving credit for your UBC Applied Science degree requirements while expanding your horizons.

In addition to experiencing the personal transformation that comes from living and studying abroad, being part of CIE allows you to:

  • complete courses required for progression in your degree;
  • participate in specialized courses available exclusively at the international host institution;
  • access new skills, technical expertise and specialized equipment;
  • build your network of international peers, potential employers and professors engaged in your area of interest;
  • expand your résumé with a unique international experience; and
  • receive a $1,000 CIE Award from the Faculty of Applied Science
